Dance Recital

This weekend was Emily's dance recital. She's been working on the 2 dances (jazz and tap) since December and the day was finally here to show off her moves. Most people dread these events, but I very much look forward to them. I have to confess, I love dressing her up like a Barbie and I beam with pride when I see her on stage.

This is her 3rd year doing dance. It's amazing to see the 3 yr olds on stage and remember that was her 2 years ago. They looks so small - and uncoordinated!

Next year she is joining the dance team. The are more practices during the week and they compete a few times throughout the year. We'll see how it goes. I am trying my best not to turn into one of "those fanatical mum's". I'll let her continue with dance until she is interested in trying something new. But as long as she loves to dance, I will love dressing her up!

Welcome to my blog

Hi folks,

I've been reading a few of my friend's blogs lately and think it's a great way to stay in touch with friends - especially those overseas, whoI admittedly have not done a good job contacting. So, I thought I'd give it a try. I hope it's a good way to stay connected.

Today is finally cooler after a few days of blistering 90 degree heat. I am thankful that it is in a the 70's today because Emily is having a "Fun Day" at school. This is something they do at the end of every school year. The kids spend the day outside playing organized games, have a fun lunch, and I think they are watching a concert this afternoon. I loaded Emily up with plently of water, lathered her in sun screen and send her off on the bus. She has been looking forward to this all month.

Tomorrow is Emily's last day of Kindergarten. I can't believe how quickly time has passed. She had a great year and was blessed to have a wonderful teacher (who is retiring this year). I've been amazed at the things she has learned. They were studying animals and she taught me a new word "oviparous" - I think that's how it's spelled - an animal that lays eggs. Huh... pretty big word for a 5 year old. I was impressed. She's also picked up basic reading and is always curious about the words in her books. It takes ages to finish bedtime reading - I don't mind a bit.

Be sure to subscribe to my blog! Take care.
